For this residence, AFLA proposed lowering the unusably steep driveway 5 feet, and rebuilding the residence’s structurally unsound retaining walls. The residence’s surrounding decking was also redesigned to ease transition between outdoor and indoor spaces. The remaining budget was used to provide a minimally landscaped garden with sculptural hardscapes and highlights that would blend the existing eucalyptus forest with the residence’s new outdoor spaces.
